Information on Weight Lifting Routines

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You Were Born Small and Weak…But Nobody Said You Have To Stay That Way”

A weight trainer I know says this to motivate his clients. I’ll have to admit, it works. They initially smile at it, but the message sinks in. Getting big, strong muscles and gaining strength is not impossible. It’s also not child’s play either. Weight lifting has been one the oldest and most effective ways of building body strength. Free weights are always better than weight lifting machines because they work the body more naturally and according to its unique requirements.

Weight lifting routines are not that hard to create. What you need is a little basic knowledge of the exercises and the muscles they work. Here are some common weight lifting exercises, listed under the muscles they train;

Chest:

Flat Bench Press

Incline Bench Press

Flat Bench Dumbbell Flyes

Incline Dumbbell Flyes

Back:

Deadlift

Lat Pulldown (or weighted pull ups)

Seated Cable Row

Bent Over Barbell Row

Bent Over 1 Arm Dumbbell Rows

Biceps:

Standing Barbell Curls

Preacher Curls (with dumbbells or barbells)

Seated/Standing Dumbbell Curls

Triceps:

Triceps Press Down

Dips

French Press

Legs:

Squats

Calve Raises

Shoulders:

Seated/Standing Military Press (with barbell or dumbbells)

Lateral Raises

Shrugs

Now also what you need to know is that weight lifting works not when you continually work your muscles, but when you work them intensely for short periods and then give them a resting period to heal and build. Take the example of working your biceps with dumbbells. A standard is to do 8-10 reps. The point of these reps is; you begin exhausting your muscles tissues, so that it needs more and more oxygen. A time will come, around the 6th to 7th rep when your muscles tissue won’t get the needed oxygen, it will then turn to an anaerobic state where it burns the glycogen in your stored in it instead. This is what causes the burning sensation towards the end of a workout. The last reps actually injure your muscle a little so that when it heals, newer and stronger muscles grow. But this is where the point to note lies. The secret to muscle building and weight lifting is to give your muscles time and rest after they have received the stimulus to grow. So if you continuously work your muscles, you risk inflicting permanent injury to them instead of building them.

Where does the danger of overworking our muscles come from? There are two sources;

1. Not giving breaks between workouts: if you work out seven days a week, don’t expect any muscle gain. In fact you’ll be well on your way to severe muscle injury. There should be a gap of 1 or 2 days between workouts.

2. Working out without Considering Secondary Muscles: An important thing that you should know is that every time you work a certain set of muscles, there is also a secondary set that gets worked as well. For instance, every time you work your chest muscles or shoulder muscles, your triceps get a work out too. Similarly, every time you work your back muscles, your biceps get a workout. The main point here, then, is to create a balance.

Now with this information in mind, you can construct a routine on the following guidelines (make amendments to suit your activities, but stick to the concept)

Monday: back, biceps and abs

Tuesday: rest

Wednesday: Legs

Thursday: rest

Friday: Chest, Triceps and shoulders

Saturday: rest

Sunday: rest

A good work out routine could be:

Monday:

Pull-ups 3 Sets of 6 Reps

Bent Over Rows 3 Sets of 8 Reps

Standing Bicep Curls 2 sets of 8 Reps

Crunches 3 Sets of 20 Reps

Wednesday:

Squats 3 Sets of 6 Reps

Lunges 2 Sets of 8 Reps

Romanian Deadlifts 2 Sets of 8 Reps

Sitting Calf Raises 3 Sets of 20 Reps

Friday:

Flat Dumbbell Bench Press 3 Sets of 8 Reps

Incline Barbell Bench Press 2 Sets of 8 Reps

Cable Pull-downs 3 Sets of 8 Reps

Side Laterals 2 Sets of 6 Reps

Military Press 3 Sets of 8 Reps

Since your training with free weights here, it’s best to have a trainer supervise your workout.

Chest Fat Options For Elimination

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you have chest fat, then you have some important options for how to get rid of it.

Is your chest fat, the typical soft fat (similar to stomach fat)?

Identifying with this type of chest fat will narrow down your options for getting rid of it. If it is typical fat you likely will be able to use conventional methods for getting rid of it. The usual diet and exercise regimen can work very well to eliminate the soft fat in your chest.

Or you can lean towards more extreme methods like liposuction for getting rid of the fat. You may want to diet and exercise it down first and then see the results before opting for the lipo.

Is your chest fat hard and lumpy like?

This may mean you have gynecomastia, which many men do suffer from. Some were born with predisposed genes leading to “gyno”, while others have developed it later in life. Either way, there are options to get rid of the troublesome lumps. One is gynecomastia surgery in which the responsible glands are removed. There are also drug options, and exercise options for reducing or eliminating this condition.

What if I have a combination of both?

Many men actually do, and you can first try conventional means to reduce the fat, and then see your results and go from there. If you opt for the surgical route, you can do both gyno removal, and liposuction at the same time.

Are there exercises I can try to eliminate my chest fat?

Yes. Men have put together exercises specifically for reducing and eliminating both the soft and hard fatty chest areas. The results for many have been successful, and since they are simple exercise routines and nothing surgical, they are definitely worth a try.

Mikasa Antique White 6-Inch Cereal Bowls, Set of 4

Mikasa Antique White 6-Inch Cereal Bowls, Set of 4 Great cereal bowl - Wanda G. Lonn - Snellville, GA United States
We love these bowls. Our family eats a lot of stews and this is perfect to hold a large portion and keep it hot. In the shallower soup bowls, things get cold too fast for us. My husband likes these for cereal and oatmeal. They are on the large side so if you are looking for an average size bowl, this may not be for you. We have almost all of the Mikasa Antique White pieces and love them. They are very pretty and durable.

Wish I had gotten these instead. - J. S. Dawson - SoCal, USA
The Antique White has two different table settings available. One with the rimmed soup bowls and a standard cup and saucer. That’s the one I got because I didn’t know any better and the sales person at Macy’s either didn’t know or care that the set I would have preferred had I known about it would have been the set that came with the cereal bowls and the Cappuccino mugs. So now I have both sets of bowls. Anybody want some cups and saucers?

The House on Mango Street

Latin Experience??? - Kiki - California
I really expected this book to shed light on what it could be light to grow up Latin in America. While there are a few (very few) glimpses into Esperanza’s feelings on growing up Latin or “brown” and how that was an “otherness” for her, however, I felt that the book mainly was about the shame of growing up in poverty. Poverty is not unique to the Latin culture in America. There are other, and in my opinion better, books on growing up poor in America. One that comes to mine is “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.” Yes, that takes place at a earlier time period in American history, but the same sentiments about shame are there with fully developed characters and story.
The House on Mango Street: : Told in a series of vignettes stunning for their eloquence, The House on Mango Street is Sandra Cisneros’s greatly admired novel of a young girl growing up in the Latino section of Chicago. Acclaimed by critics, beloved by children, their parents and grandparents, taught everywhere from inner-city grade schools to universities across the country, and translated all over the world, it has entered the canon of coming-of-age classics.

Sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes deeply joyous, The House on Mango Street tells the story of Esperanza Cordero, whose neighborhood is one of harsh realities and harsh beauty. Esperanza doesn’t want to belong–not to her rundown neighborhood, and not to the low expectations the world has for her. Esperanza’s story is that of a young girl coming into her power, and inventing for herself what she will become. - read more.
